The Wedding pictures have finally arrived!

So it seems we've been waiting forever to get our wedding pictures from Wendy, we finally got them yesterday. It was a lot of fun being able to look through them again and remember that special day. It's been a little over a month now since Bruce and I have been married and I have to say we are having the time of our lives! We LOVE the pictures and love Wendy for taking them. For anyone who is in need of a photographer (if I'm not available of course LOL) I'd say check out here website and hire her, she's amazing (www.bluelilyphotography.com). Here are some pictures from the big day.

Family Photos

Family Photos!
Summer is here and it’s time to get some new family photos. I’m an aspiring photographer wanting to build up my portfolio. I have many ideas and love to have fun doing what I do. However I need some new faces for my website. So, the first 5 families who call and make an appointment will get free family photos! You must be willing to drive to some different Salt Lake City locations. All sessions will be NO longer than an hour and a half depending on who I’m working with. These families must also be willing to sign a release on the photos in case I decided to use the shots on my website. After the first five families I will be charging a low price of 20.00!
You’ll get a full session, pictures in different areas and styles, a high quality CD of all pictures and a release form that will allow you to print where you like.
So call fast before the summer gets booked and capture the moments of your family!

To make an appointment for your family pictures call 801-585-4018
If we aren’t home you can leave a message on my cell 760-622-9786

Or you can check out my new website www.saintlaurentstudios.com, it’s still under construction but you can email me with any questions at shumashuma@gmail.com.

Saint Laurent Studios- Capture the moment

Unlucky to Lucky?

My whole life I would envy those who found great deals or happen to be in the right place at the right time. I would have never considered myself to be one of those people, usually I was the one paying MORE for something than most. I could never find what I wanted for the price I was looking for. However, in the past couple of weeks my luck seems to have turned. Now I feel as though I find exactly what I want for even cheaper than I would of payed in the first place.
But don't take my word for it, you be the one to decide...
The kitchen counter (which we got with an Ikea gift card and only payed a little more for, it was well worth it's extra value), the couch which was like new and free, our table for free from Bruce's sister and now the bathroom shelve. I went to Bed Bath & Beyond today because I had two gift cards. They had this amazing clearance table in one of the middle isles with loads of things marked down on it. At the end of this table where two beautiful bathroom shelves it was small enough to fit into our small bathroom, but not too small to store things in. It was a nice wood finish and matched the theme I wanted the bathroom to have. It's original value was 80.00 and it was marked down to 9.99! I talked to the girl that worked in that area and she said it was marked down so low because of the few scratches and because of this no one would buy them. She said her boss told her to mark them down that low so that they could get rid of them. I think the girl was happy to see one of them finally get bought and was even trying to sell me a paint stick that would cover the scratches. I didn't care about the scratches though you can barly see them and for 10.00, WHO CARES!
So I leave it up to you to decided, what do you think? Am I still so unlucky?=)
I wouldn't think so. lol Here are some pictures of the apartment I hope you don't get tired of hearing about our apartment but we don't have much else that is going on at the moment.HAHA

My great find at Bed Bath and Beyond!

Bruce put this shelve up for me the other day. I so greatful for him, he's always doing things to make our apartment look so nice. I love this shelve though.

This is the other counter space we got from Ikea. These apartments have absoultly no counter space so its super nice to have.

A Birthday Girl and A Soccer Boy

Last Friday was Ainsley Oaks 3rd birthday so Bruce and I went up to Bountiful for her party with Jimmy and Holly. It was a lot of fun to see the Oak family and hang out a bit. Ainsley was a princess as always, she had fun opening her presents and being the center of attention. Duncan our nephew (Jimmy and Holly's son) was being a world class baby soccer player! Seriously the kid has some pretty amazing dribbling skills. It was the first time I'd ever seen such a little kid with such little legs kick a ball the way he did. Sometimes I feel like such a proud aunt!
Here are some shots, enjoy!

Who Said Nothing is Free?

This last week Bruce introduced me to the classifieds section on KSL.com. Since I don't have a job I've been on every couple of hours trying to find some good deals on furniture. Last Friday was no exception, I went on every couple of hours checking for new posts. On my last attempt (before Bruce got home) I came across a great find! I was stumbling through the couch section and happened to see a post for a couch that was exactly what I was looking for. Holding my breath I clicked on the picture that would allow me to see the price the couch was going for. To my surprise in big bold words the word FREE was the first thing my eyes saw. I couldnt believe it, nothing that good could be free! So I quickly dialed the number of the girl who was giving it away... her name was Olivia. To my surpise she still had the couch and was indeed giving it away for free.
While driving to get the couch we still didn't want to believe it would be ours for free until it was safely in the van and we were driving home with it. So we got to her house and found out from the people she was living with, how cool this girl was. She had gotten the couch as a gift from her sister and since it wouldn't fit in her small rented room she wanted to give it way for free, since she got it for free. Her sisters husband tried to talk her into selling it for 150.00 (which she could have easly gotten out of it), but she wouldn't. she said to him, "What goes around comes around".
So because of this girl's wonderful and amazing gift, we now have a 800.00 couch that looks new. Who says nothing good can be free?=)
So, Thank You Olivia wherever you are for your wonderful gift of selflessness. We LOVE our new couch.

Out with the old, in with the new!

It's been fun moving into our small apartment (really I'm kidding when I say small), being able to finally have a place for all our things is the most wonderful feeling in the world. As everyone knows when you get married you have practically nothing, lets just say we were no exception from this rule. Lucky however we live next to a lot of family and they have very generously given us things to help get us started. One of these things is a table... Bruce's sister was throwing it away and asked if we wanted it. Of course we were trilled to have it and excited to take it home to fix it up. For the past week it had a table cloth on it because it looked liked this:

After a lot of sanding (I felt sorry for the neighbors) and staining I'm proud to say it now looks something like this:

Needless to say "Out with the old and in with the the new"! We've been having way too much fun decorating and finding free or cheap things to make our apartment look better. Being married rocks!

Katie and Dallin Bird's Wedding- My Realization

Bruce and I had the opportunity to go up to Rexburg Idaho this past weekend to see Katie get married. It was nice knowing it wasn't going to be us, that we were able to go with the label of being one of the married couples. I brought my camera as usual and was asked to take some pictures since they only had a friend taking the pictures. I was surprised how I handled the situation, I felt in control and confident in my work for the first time since I started becoming interested in photography. Bruce is amazing as you all know=) he is always by my side encouraging me and being like my second. When I need to be in a picture he is happy to take the camera and take some pretty amazing shots as well. The Bridal shots were fun but we only had five minutes to take them since Katie was running late. Otherwise we could have gotten a lot more sweet shots. I liked taking those because it was just me as the main photographer and I was able to lead her where I wanted. The temple was a bit frustrating as we had about 4 other photographers standing around taking pictures each thinking they were better than the other. So I had to compete for some of the shots I wanted. I noticed through all this that I, was ready to be a main photographer at a wedding. The idea had always scared me as I always thought someone could do a better job on such a special day. This day was different, not only did I want the other photographers to go away but every shot I wanted to get was unique from what they were getting. My ideas were different and I realized that this set me apart from just being another photographer. I think this is what makes a photographer great (I'm not saying I'm great yet, I'm still learning), seeing the world the way we don't typically get to see it with just our eyes. This is why people want pictures, to capture those moments of art and beauty so years later its not just another picture but something that brings back memories of that moment. I don't say this to brag about how I'm so amazing just that I love capturing moments in time that mean something to people. It's a realization that will keep me pushing to be better.
